At Premier Performance, we recognize that mainstream grassroots football may not always be the best fit for every child. Many young people with Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Special Educational Needs (SEN), or behavioural challenges often find it difficult to engage in traditional football environments. That’s why we have developed a specialised coaching programme designed to provide a safe, structured, and supportive space where they can thrive.
With extensive experience as a Behaviour Lead and Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in a specialist SEMH school, and currently serving as a Secondary Behaviour Mentor for Wiltshire Council, I have dedicated my career to supporting children who face barriers to learning and social engagement. My expertise lies in enhancing mindset, emotional regulation, and behaviour management to help prevent exclusions and foster positive development. This same understanding and commitment form the foundation of our football coaching sessions, ensuring that each child receives the guidance, patience, and encouragement they need to succeed.
Our coaching sessions extend beyond football—they are designed to nurture emotional well-being, social development, and self-confidence. We help children manage their emotions, build resilience, and develop a positive approach to challenges. By providing a clear and predictable routine, we reduce anxiety and encourage engagement. The sessions take place in small groups, allowing for focused attention, less pressure, and opportunities to build friendships in a safe and welcoming space. Through football, children learn important social skills such as communication, turn-taking, and problem-solving, all within an inclusive and enjoyable environment.
We are committed to helping children build confidence and self-esteem, ensuring they feel successful, valued, and proud of their progress both on and off the pitch. Our sessions are designed for children with SEMH, SEN, ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, or behavioural challenges, as well as those who struggle to participate in traditional grassroots football due to emotional or behavioural difficulties. We also welcome children who love football but require a more patient, understanding, and tailored approach to learning and playing.
At Premier Performance, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to play, learn, and grow through football. Our sessions are carefully designed to remove barriers and create an environment where children can flourish—not just as footballers, but as individuals.
